Last Light
A week or so after my twin daughters were born prematurely, I wrote them a lullaby. At the time, I had about half of this violin and piano piece composed. Little did I know that within a few days one of our twins, Eleanor Rose, would be gone, her fragile body unable to fight any longer.
To honor her memory, I incorporated the lullaby into the central section of this piece, a sweet but somber reflection on Eleanor’s short but beautiful life and the eternal imprint she left on my heart. Eleanor means “bright, shining one” and the title, Last Light, refers to the twilight moments of day’s end.
