O God, My Faithful God

Originally composed by Ahasuerus Fritsch (1629–1701), this hymn tune was later harmonized by J.S. Bach in Cantata 45. Beginning introspectively, the arrangement builds in intensity by developing the rising sequential motion of the melody. The climax is powerfully underscored by the brilliance of the brass and supporting organ.
